The small Tuscan town of Buti has been Jean-Marie Straub's second home, even before his wife's death, and perhaps even his first home. Here, in cooperation with the locals, most of his films were created in the last few years. Before a film is completed, a performance of the work takes place in the city's beautiful small theater: in theatrical form, limited to the essentials. And the comparison of such a performance with the later film is a wonderful lecture in space, figure, language and gesture, or, in a word, form.
This film is screened together with Genou d'Artemide on October 28.
