DER GEIGER VON FLORENZ

After her mother's death, young Renée (Elisabeth Bergner) is deeply infatuated with love for her father and bristling with resentment against his second wife (Nora Gregor). The wayward girl is sent to a boarding school in Lugano, she escapes and dressed up as a boy she passes the Italian border. An artist is charmed by his (her) looks and takes the boy (girl) in to paint him (her). Sparks fly between the two, but while the painter doesn't dare to hope that «he» might be a she, Renée doesn't dare to confess her deceit. Luckily the painting, called «The Fiddler of Florence», is an immediate success. Renée is recognized by her stepmom, and the father is only too glad to have her taken from his hands.
