Long days of hard work dominant the life of the farmer, the change of seasons, the harsh and lonely countryside. Like all of Rohmer’s characters she has no problem with being alone, but there is also risk of becoming introverted. So Rohmer ends the film with scenes of folksiness and other scenes that show the young woman’s political commitment in her community.
