Irène leads a rather dull life with her husband, a teacher, and two faintly hostile teenage kids. One night, she goes alone to a dinner party given by a co-worker, and on her way home is attacked by a homeless woman. She wakes up at home complaining of sore ribs, and it turns out she was found unconscious in her car and has been sleeping for nearly two days. She doesn't remember a thing. Soon afterwards, the heavily mutilated body of her attacker is found in a park. Irène becomes obsessed with what happened during her amnesia, and recognzies that her life will never be the same again.
