BORD DE MER
SEASIDE
Influenced by the quiet lyricism of Edward Hoppers paintings, Bord de mer takes place in the small seaside town of Cayeux. At one end of the beach, we find a pebble processing plant where Marie, a pretty young woman, works. Her boyfriend, Paul, works at the grocers in winter and as a lifeguard in summer. He is worried about his mother, Rose, who is gambling away her fortune. Marie is tiring of the smalltown life and dreams of leaving. Hope comes in the shape of Albert, a young manager from the factory, who has recently been sacked, and whose fancy seems to offer an ideal escape. (Steve Grayson)
