This documentary has got no pretension to be a politicial analysis of a country in despair. It is the story about five different Albanians (although they are all in one way or another involved in art) and how history decided on their destiny. In a non-emphatic way, almost casually, we learn what these people have been through and how they look at life today. The use of archive material gives us the necessary support. The astonishing fact is that these people are never pityful, despite their sometimes hair-raising experiences. On the contrary: They radiate a tremendous power and a will to live. Their optimism becomes a gripping testimony to a vitality that refuses to accept defeat and shows that a human being can preserve dignity, whatever evil might happen to him.
