Una película robada
A Stolen Movie
It’s no sin to rob a thief. Camilo Restrepo makes this proverb his own, turning found footage into a political gesture. As in LA IMPRESIÓN DE UNA GUERRA (2015), Restrepo deploys a brilliantly written voiceover—his own—that confronts the images. The source is an old documentary about the Pan-American Highway as it crosses the Darién, the only passage between South and North America and a bottleneck for goods and human beings. From these “stolen” images, Restrepo constructs a film about colonialism as an omnipresent system of thought. (Gonzalo de Pedro Amatria)
