Point de fuite
Vanishing Point
Made directly after the shooting of LA VILLE DES PIRATES (1983), the maddeningly prolific director Ruiz involves his actors and also producer Paolo Branco in new roles in this tragicomic étude of a film noir. A man with an operated face (Steve Baes) waits in a vacation home, Anne Alvaro looks after and controls him. The maelstrom of scenes (all "first takes") is kept moving by an Englishman who loses himself in his family stories, but in the process competes with a local who packs hundreds of raunchy love stories into empty bottles and sends them on new journeys. (Robert Weixlbaumer)
