Intersection
Perhaps the first friction encountered when navigating a new city is the seemingly mundane, yet crucial act of crossing a street. Doubt and selfconsciousness ensue as one tries not to stick out. It is not hard to imagine experimental filmmakers Richard Tuohy and Dianna Barrie, who have travelled the world spreading the analogue gospel at independent film labs, in such a predicament. Shot at street crossings in 10 different cities, INTERSECTION can be read as their response to said experience. Wit meets formal complexity, as a banal act is turned into an arresting display of light and sound. (Salvador Amores)
