Tamer Hassan’s intimate new film transports us to a pitch-black forest, which hosts an unexplained interaction between a group of birds and human hands. Soon after, we see a swarm of purple martins swirl across the urban sky. Following ACCESSION (2018), his poignant documentary on seeds, Hassan examines the interdependencies between humans
and their environment in this deeply sensorial work. Eschewing a linear narrative structure and voiceover, HOMING presents a series of fragments from the life cycle of this endangered bird. (Hyun Jin Cho)
