Elegy for the Forgotten, on an endless War
ELEGY FOR THE FORGOTTEN, ON AN ENDLESS WAR confronts us with numerous images of death: victims of the 1980s Iran-Iraq War, of the 2026 Israeli US War on Iran, protestors killed by the Iranian regime in 2026. Recognising images as both evidence of grave crimes and spaces of manipulation, the film carries out its own work on them through montage (including by interpolating beautiful Super-8 shots of flowers), refilming, colour processing and close ups that push towards abstraction. It reflects on images as a site of violence, but also on how they still persist despite all. (Nicolas Helm-Grovas)
