The opening as well as the closing film of this year's Viennale are for definite. The selection is equatable with the decision for two examples of an independent and uncommon European author cinema, moreover with appreciation to two movies internationally commended and recognized for their aesthetic and narrative individuality and quality.

In celebration of the Viennale 2014 opening, on Thursday, October 23th, at Gartenbaukino, AMOUR FOU by Jessica Hausner will sreen.
„I'm very glad, that our festival opens with a movie by an Austrian director this year", says Viennale director Hans Hurch. „For me AMOUR FOU is a lucky chance for the regional cinema.“

Part of the Viennale 2014 closing gala on November 6th also at Gartenbaukino is the film TURIST by Swedish director Ruben Östlund.
