VIC + FLO ONT VU UN OURS

Two women leave behind prison and find common ground again with each other. The burden of enclave they have to bear still. Indeed the new forest solitude is far away from hermitage - populated it is by interluders quite excentric, but that hearts redound on themselves is inescapable. Here an especially full-blown bear squeezes all the breath out of happy end. Denis Côté meets trouble halfway with this dystopic modern age fairy tale: More than ever we see the wood named society for the trees. The laughter also doesn't stick in our throat. (bk)

NEW WORLD

Undercover missions often seem to have a schizophrenic character for the protagonists. For example for the police officer in NEW WORLD, who enters the drug scene.
The second feature film by the Korean director Park Hoon-jung turns out to be a complex masterpiece, because it doesn't cling to the violence issued, but opens an approach to matters of justice, loyalty and privacy via showing the precarious situation of the protagonist.
