METRO Kinokulturhaus, Johannesgasse 4, 1010 Vienna

From the very beginning, Patti Smith was always more than just a musician. She has written wonderful poems, devoted herself to the genre of drawing, and her autobiographical novel, Just Kids, sold millions of copies and was awarded the most prestigious literature prizes. And, not least, Patti Smith is also a truly exceptional photographer. With a decade-old Vintage Polaroid Land 250 instant film camera, she has documented her life, her journeys, her friends and, primarily, the life traces of a number of artists she feels close to. From some of these selected instant pictures, traditional, slightly enlarged photographic prints on Baryta paper are produced.

As part of this year’s Viennale and for the first time in Austria, Patti Smith will present a selection of more than two dozen of her photographs. These include pictures she has taken in Vienna over the past 20 years.
