White Echo

Ihr dritter Kurzfilm beginnt, als würde er den Bechdel-Test nicht überstehen, entpuppt sich aber als veritable „Female Power“-Ansage in Form eines „Mood Piece“. Chloë Sevigny, bekannt geworden durch markante Charakterrollen, lässt fünf junge Frauen bei Vollmond am Ouija Board spielen und gruppendynamisch ihre spirituellen Kräfte entdecken, bis schließlich die von Kate Lyn Sheil lässig gespielte Hauptfigur Carla – und ihre innere Dämonin – in den Fokus rückt. „Ich bin bereit für meinen ersten Langspielfilm als Regisseurin“, sagt  Sevigny. Behind the camera once again, Chloë Sevigny trains her gaze on a meeting of girlfriends in a haunted house. It’s an experience in testing incredulity, although the movie is not about black magic, but rather the magical, enigmatic female spirit. Sevigny crafts an atmosphere of tension and mystery only to then detonate it via the energy of an extraordinary cast that includes Kate Lyn Sheil, Sheila Vand, and Eleonore Hendricks. Enlightened cats already seem to know these young women’s secrets and witness a rite to ward of the fear of feminine power, making them aware of it and celebrate it. (Eva Sangiorgi)
