Director of
La noche de la infancia (From Dawn to Dawn)
Xisi Sofia Ye Chen was born in Barcelona in 1994, as the daughter of Chinese immigrants, and grew up between Qingtianese, Mandarin, Catalan, and Spanish. She studied Humanities and Creative Documentary at Pompeu Fabra University; her work explores cultural hybridity, migration, and identity. Her debut feature LA NOCHE DE LA INFANCIA portrays her older brother A Wen, who became involved in the Chinese gang scene in Spain in his youth but now lives as a businessman and family man in Barcelona; without judgement or romanticisation, the film observes a man torn between criminal heritage, familial duty and a search for moral clarity. The film had its world premiere at Visions du Réel in 2026, where it won the Grand Jury Prize.
