MEMORY
Vladlena Sandu (*1982, Crimea, Ukraine) is a film and theatre director. Raised in Grozny during the Chechen War, her work addresses war trauma, dictatorship, colonialism, and sexual exploitation. After studying directing at VGIK (Moscow) and completing postgraduate studies in aesthetics, she fled Russia in 2022 and now lives in Amsterdam.
Her works have been shown at the Berlinale, Rotterdam, and DOK Leipzig. With THE RAINBOW CINEMA, she won the Amsterdam Fringe Award in 2023.
