Vanja Smiljanić (born 1986 in Belgrade) is a visual artist and performance artist. After studying fine arts at the Faculdade de Belas Artes Lisboa, Universidade de Lisboa (PT), completing a master’s degree at the Dutch Art Institute in Arnhem (NL), and studying Advanced Performance and Scenography in Brussels (BE), she graduated in media art from the Academy of Media Arts Cologne in 2018. Since 2010, she has been exploring the new religious UFO movement known as the “Cosmic People”, reporting on its subversive activities through lecture-performances and inviting interested audiences to engage with her artistic research through innovative live formats.
