She is is a Hong Kong–born film director, producer, and screenwriter. After studying film in the United States and the United Kingdom, she directed THE ARCH (1968), a landmark work of Hong Kong auteur cinema. Her second film, CHINA BEHIND (1974), was banned due to its political subject matter.
