Born in Karlsruhe in 1962. He studied at the Munich Otto-Falkenberg drama school and had his first engagement at the Theater der Jugend and the Staatstheater Darmstadt. Later his interest in film grew. Beside numerous film and television roles, he also acted in various episodes in the German language area. His performance along with Ulrich Mühe in the Oscar-winning drama DAS LEBEN DER ANDEREN gained him international attention. Numerous engagements in international productions followed. He also works as an audio book interpreter. Lives in Berlin.
