Born 1969 in Kongsvinger, Norway. As an investigative journalist, he made reportages from Kosovo, Angola, Afghanistan. He also works as a photographer and documentary filmmaker. In the middle of the 1980s, Refsdal reported on the resistance of the Mujaheedin in Afghanistan against the Soviet army. In 2009 he got in in Taliban hostage for a week . He received a filming permit for DUGMA after a formal request at the "press department" of al-Qaeda.
