Michael Heltau (*1933) is an actor and chansonnier. He was a student of Helene Thimig at the Max Reinhardt Seminar - she became his mentor and friend. From the mid-1960s, he appeared regularly at the Salzburg Festival and later enjoyed great success at Vienna's Burgtheater. In addition to his acting activities, he is also known as a singer, especially of German-language interpretations of French chansons and Viennese songs. In 2023, he is awarded the Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold for Services to the Republic of Austria.
