Lev Predan Kowarski is a freelance cinematographer from Slovenia. After studying Philosophy and Polish at the University of Ljubljana, he completed his Master’s degree in Cinematography at the Polish National Film School in Łódź in 2014, supported by a scholarship from the City of Ljubljana. Since then, he has worked with Slovenian and international directors on fiction and documentary films.
Kowarski has received several awards, including Best Cinematography in an International Narrative Feature at the 2025 Tribeca Festival for Little Trouble Girls. His films have been screened at major festivals such as Berlinale, Venice, Cannes, and Locarno. Since 2019, he has been teaching cinematography at the University of Ljubljana and managing the Slovenian Film Database (bsf.si), an important online resource on Slovenian cinema.
