Juliette Binoche was born in 1964 in Paris and is considered one of the most important actresses in Europe. After training at the Paris Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, she gained international recognition from the mid-1980s with films by Jean-Luc Godard and later with THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING (1988). She won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1997 for THE ENGLISH PATIENT. She has starred in numerous European arthouse productions such as THREE COLORS: BLUE, CHOCOLAT, HIDDEN (CACHÉ), and CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA. Her choice of roles is characterized by emotional depth and artistic openness. Since 2024, she has been president of the European Film Academy, and in 2025, she served as jury president at Cannes.
Her recent films include THE TASTE OF THINGS (2023), a historical love drama about culinary arts, and THE RETURN (2024), a modern Odyssey adaptation starring Ralph Fiennes. In 2025, she premiered her directorial debut IN‑I IN MOTION — a personal documentary about her dance performance IN‑I with Akram Khan. The film premiered at San Sebastián and is set for theatrical release in 2026.
