Jens Meurer was born in Nuremberg in 1963 and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, from the age of twelve. In 1992, he founded his production company Egoli Films, which merged with Judy Tossell's Tossell Pictures in 2001 to form Egoli Tossell Film. As a producer, he was involved in, among others, BLACK BOOK (2006), CARLOS (2010) (awarded a Golden Globe for the miniseries), RUSH (2013), and FILTH (2013). In 2013, he began working on his own documentaries with his newly founded company Instant Film: AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2020, as did SEASIDE SPECIAL at the Hof Film Festival in 2021.
