Born in Paris in 1944. Began his career as an assistant editor of Alain Robbe-Grillet and shot several short films until he realized his first feature film, the episodic film L’ AN 01 (together with Alain Resnais and Jean Rouch), in 1973. The following 30 films gained him awards around the world. His works are regularly presented at the Viennale.
