Erige Sehiri is a French-Tunisian director, producer and former journalist. Her work combines documentary realism with narrative cinema. She first attracted international attention with her documentary RAILWAY MEN (2018) about the everyday life of Tunisian railway workers. Her first feature film UNDER THE FIG TREES (2022) premiered at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes in Cannes, was released in over 20 countries and was Tunisia's Oscar entry in 2023. The intimate film tells the story of young people, work and encounters in a rural fig orchard. Sehiri is co-founder of the Rawiyat – Sisters in Film network, which supports Arab female filmmakers, and is committed to freedom of expression and media literacy. Her second feature film, PROMISED SKY, premiered in 2025 in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival.
