Emma Matthews is a British film editor and co-director, best known for her long-standing collaboration with Christopher Petit. Her most notable films include THE FALCONER (1998), DANCE OF THE WIND (1997), ASYLUM (2000), LONDON LABYRINTH (2002), LONDON ORBITAL (2002), UNREQUITED LOVE (2006), CONTENT (2010), and the BBC documentary series ARENA – NIGHT AND DAY (2015–2020). Together with Petit and Iain Sinclair, she co-directed PARIAH GENIUS (2024), based on Sinclair’s book about photographer John Deakin. Her most recent work is D IS FOR DISTANCE (2025). Matthews’ editing is characterized by precision and sensitivity, allowing for a deep engagement with the film’s subjects.
