INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS
Born 1956 in Vienna, the son of an Austrian mother and a German father. He studies acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and later method acting with Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler in New York City. He is performing at venues such as Schauspielhaus Zürich, Burgtheater, and the Salzburg Festival. He becomes a prolific television actor at the end of the 1970’s, mostly in German TV productions, but also in international productions like the British TV series THE GRAVY TRAIN in 1990. in Quentin Tarantino’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, Waltz portrays SS-Standartenführer Hans Landa. Waltz receives the Best Actor Award for his performance at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. in 2012 he plays German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz in Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED, a role Tarantino writes specifically for Waltz. For his role he receives his second Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Currently he directs the crime drama GEORGETOWN starring Vanessa Redgrave and Annette Bening.
