Christian Petzold lives in Berlin, where he studied at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin. In 2009, Christian Petzold was nominated for the German Film Award as best director for Jerichow. In 2018, he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which annually awards the Oscars. His film UDINE screened in competition at the 70th Berlinale in 2020, where it was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize.
