UNA SOMBRA OSCILANTE
Celeste Rojas Mugica (chilean/argentinian) is a visual artist, photographer and filmmaker, with a master’s degree in film Creation of the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (Basque Country).
She investigates the relations between memories, violence and imaginaries about the territory, working with images and archives around its social uses and political power in the borders between fiction and documentary.
She has exhibited and published her work in Latin America, Europe and Asia. During her career she has been supported by the Hubert Bals Fund - IFFR (NL); FONDART (CL); Audiovisual Fund (CL); INCAA (ARG); BECAR Cultura (ARG); the National Fund of Arts of Argentina, the Deutsch Art Council (IT), among others. Her work has been recognized with the National Young Photography Prize (CL, 2017), the Buenos Aires Young Art Biennial Prize (ARG, 2017) and the Latin American Creation Prize of the Biennial of Image in Movement (ARG, 2018), among others.
She has recently exhibited her work in exhibitions and festivals such as FIDMarseille (FR), DocLisboa (PT), Ars Electronica (AUT), Les Rencontres d’ Arles (FR), FICUNAM (MX), Image & Movement Biennial (ARG), San Sebastian Film Festival (ES), BIENALSUR and FICValdivia (CL), among others.
Her first feature film, UNA SOMBRA OSCILANTE, was premiered at FIDMarseille (FR, 2024) and was awarded with the Jury Special Mention Award. She is represented by Rolf Art Gallery.
