Adam Szymczyk (born 1970 in Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland) is a curator, author and editor based in Zurich, Switzerland, currently at Büro für Geistige Mitarbeit at the Kunsthaus Zürich.
He studied art history at the University of Warsaw and was a co-founder of the Foksal Gallery Foundation where he worked as a curator from 1997 to 2003. He was Director and Chief Curator of Kunsthalle Basel between 2003 and 2014 and then served as Artistic Director of documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel between 2014 and 2017. He was Curator-at-Large at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam from 2020 to 2024. In 2022, he founded the Verein by Association, a non-profit association for contemporary arts and culture in Zurich.
