Since World War II, foreigners have come to Belgium to work in the cities of the Walloon mining and industrial areas. Largely Mediterraneans from Italy, the Middle East and North Africa, their exchange of experiences and working skills saw commercial trade flourish in the region. Nestler's film documents this interplay of cultures in industry with the help of two examples: shipbuilding and weapon manufacturing.
