Tun, a 25-year-old photographer, finds that the photos he has just taken are smeared with strange lights. The foul light sometimes appears like an apparition of someone standing in front of the camera. Tun is skeptical until he enlarges the pictures and becomes convinced that the light does look like a womans face. Then his friends start dying mysteriously one by one, while his girlfriend begins to suspect that shes followed by a spirit. Tun decides to dig out the history behind those pictures, and that means he is digging out his own past secret that is coming back to haunt him: A few nights earlier he seems to have run over a young woman with his car. The biggest Thai box-office earner of 2004, The Shutter marks a promising directorial debut of the duo characters. This taut, inventive ghost story is already earmarked as the next big contender on the Asian horror trail launched by Ring and The Grudge, this clever thriller is currently being pursued by several international companies for remake rights.
