A castle in the French countryside: The Marquis de la Chesnaye and his wife Christine (Nora Gregor), their lovers and friends come together for a weekend of shooting rabbits and other summerly joys, while countless servants take care of their needs. Once set in motion, the comical game of love and desire seems to work mechanically on its own, just like one of the mechanical toys the Marquis collects. There is just one rule to adhere to: Don't take it too seriously - or you are out. A complete failure when first released, La Règle du jeu has long since been acknowledged as on of the great movies of all times.
