NIGHTINGALE

USA 2002

Nightingale uses the end of a love affair to examine the way memory can rend and shift the fabric of the past. The film manipulates its own materiality, using shifts of focus, exposure, and narrative to challenge assumptions about the accuracy of the representational event. It looks at the ways we allow our memories to deteriorate and alter our own histories, thus fictionalizing our own lives. (Lee Anne Schmitt)
