SOMEWHERE OVER THE DREAMLAND
The film consists of two stories: the first one is about Watan, a middle-aged aborigine. The postman brings him a letter as he, still half asleep due to the after-effects of a drunken night, is having a bath. The letter mentions finding his wallet buried in cement. Watan decides to go to Taipei to retrieve his wallet at the same time as the memory of a lost love in a millet field returns. The second story deals with Xiao Mao, a young man who works in a Japanese restaurant and leads a dissolute life, fully aware that he does not want to change it. By day, he is busy preparing food, by night he frequents telephone meeting places. Here he receives a strange phone call from a girl with a sad voice asking him to listen to her story. It is a love story about a millet field.
