Mein langsames Leben
Passing Summer
Berlin, summer. Two friends, Valerie and Sophie, in a café. Events, encounters and relationships. Moments of half a year. The film is an attempt to view life from outside, to become detached, not to intervene, but to observe. I wanted to create a smooth transition from life to film and back again. At first I kept seeing the two young women in the café over and over again on summer days. Each situation exists thousand-fold, be it the family arriving at the airport, the elderly woman sitting alone on the train or the grown-up children in front of the hospital in which their father is dying. It's normal. I wondered what happens if you try to capture normality on film. (Angela Schanelec)
