DER MANN, DER SICH VERKAUFT

Divorce can be expensive if one is the guilty part. So the millionaire Jan Bracca hires Achim von Wehrstädt, a nobleman of dubious reputation, to seduce his wife Daisy and deliver proof of her infidelity. The more Achim gets to know the woman, however, the less he is willing to fulfill his obligations. But Bracca insists on the validity of the contract. Then he is found shot in his study, and Achim stands accused of murder. Director Hans Steinhoff sets a fast pace in this nicely crafted combination of melo-drama and whodunnit.
