MAFROUZA - OH LA NUIT!

This film reveals an unsuspected and magical universe. Started in 2000, Mafrouza expands the usual economical standards of documentary film. As Demoris filmed alone, with no producer, she took time to be adopted by the inhabitants of this impoverished neighbourhood, located next the the port of Alexandria, but kept far from cameras and pictures by the egyptian authorities. In order to give her the means to edit properly this long chronicle, her longtime friend, the screenwriter Jean Gruault, decided to become a producer at the age of 84 and put all his savings into the project.
