LILJA 4-EVER
16-year-old Lilja lives in a poor and dreary suburb somewhere in the former Soviet Union. Her mother has moved to the US with a new man, and Lilja is waiting to be sent for. But it soon becomes obvious that Lilja has been abandoned. Her situation is getting desperate. She has only one friend, 11-year-old Volodya with whom she roams about and dreams of a better life. Liljas monotonous days are interrupted when she meets Andrej, and descovers love. Andrej proposes they go to Sweden and change life for good. Little Volodya is jealous and suspicious, but Lilja packs her things. Soon enough, shes on a plane bound for Sweden not knowing what will happen next.
