The estate agent Naka signs on the well-known killer Sho to find his lover, Sae, who has been kidnapped by four gangsters. Among the kidnappers, Sho recognizes his arch enemy, the knife-thrower Ko. Five years ago, Ko murdered Shos lover Rie; ever since then, Sho has been out for revenge. The following day a showdown between the two rivals is set to take place. Yamatoyas films were created outside the studio system, on the fringes of Japanese cinema. His films follow the tradition of the action films of Nikkatsu, for which Yamatoya worked for several years. Yamatoya breaks with common conventions, does without linear narrative style and logical structure and combines reality and dreams, creating a highly complex masterpiece, which is now shown outside Japan for the first time.
