The CHELSEA GIRLS (DOPPELPROJEKTION)

The Chelsea Girls consists of 12 acts of 35 minutes each, while the film rolls are simultaneously being projected in a double projection. The viewer is only reached by one of the two sound tracks at a time. The film is a fascinating mixture of feature and reality film. Acted scenes become shockingly real at times. More reality comes in when the actors refuse to play on but the camera keeps shooting. Or when a seemingly banal conversation becomes more and more intense and more and more \"real\". The Chelsea Girls is one of Warhol's most intensive and exciting films.
