CARNETS D'UN COMBATTANT KURDE

Stefano Savona's documentary is based on the diary entries of a fighter of the Kurdish Freedom Movement from a march through the mountains at the Turkish-Iraqi border region. It depicts male and female soldiers of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) beyond any heroic gestures and martyrdom, but in their daily fears, determination and pride. It is especially the young women who fascinate and touch the viewer with their tales, their love of freedom and their unbroken hope. The film stops as the group reaches the combat zone. The final credits record that almost all of these freedom fighters perished in the following days.
