BOLERO

To the sounds of Ravels «Boléro», we are drawn into the crowds of a female audience: hundreds of fascinated, moved, enraptured women stare fixedly at something behind the running camera. They are rejoicing and want more and more. Marcel Wepper criticizes a widely discussed phenomenon of current American talk shows and in this case female mass hysteria.

This piece is about hysteria, the hypnotic power of commercialism and its persuasive nature. Every shot, minus the first few and last one, are reaction shots of the studio audience. They have not been rearranged or repeated and each one was included in the shows original broadcast.
