ARCHITECTURE OF RIOT

The California State Building in downtown Los Angeles had once been home to many state agencies and offices. Although vacant by 1995, the building remained greatly intact until it was closed in April 2002. Stillness juxtaposed with movement, sound from the world outside, and moments of discovery join force and provide a material basis for which to examine the buildings past and its symbolic importance.
