Superstición andaluza / Superstition andalouse
This program explores the last years of Chomón at Pathé and the beginnings of a lesser-known phase: the films he made in Barcelona between 1910 and 1912. His relationship with Pathé began and ended in Barcelona, from the colouring of films in 1902 until his departure for Turin in 1912. The titles have been selected to showcase his last years at Pathé in which he shows the technical skills he had acquired, capable of applying them to his own project in his last period in Barcelona. Under Ibérico Films Chomón had developed his very own colour system, Cinémacoloris, based on a stencil (pochoir) technique and present in Barcelone, principal ville de la Catalogne, sample of the documentaries about cities on the Iberian Peninsula produced by this production company. Special effects played an important role in the fiction films shot by Chomón in Barcelona, but he also had the ability to integrate them into the development of the story, as in Superstition andalouse.
