Slidin' – Alles bunt und wunderbar
SLIDIN’ – ALLES BUNT UND WUNDERBAR interweaves three episodes by three directors into a portrait of young people drifting through Vienna and its outskirts. Characters move between stories, reappearing in new constellations and creating a shared map of youthful restlessness. In Tagada, Petra and Nicole roam through their brightly coloured universe of subway stations, shopping centres and anonymous streets, picking up boys and testing the limits of friendship and desire. In Asi-lu, twenty-year-old Billie wanders from club to club through a world of nightlife, fleeting encounters and empty promises, searching for the next small thrill while refusing the expectations placed upon her. And in Crashtest, a group of friends heading to a rave break down in unfamiliar rural surroundings, where chance encounters and sudden aggressions transform an ordinary night into something unforgettable. Between shabby glamour and late-night melancholy, boredom and adventure, the film captures a generation who has made the city’s forgotten spaces its own and illuminates the small dramas of growing up with an unmistakably 1990s sensibility.
