Radu Muntean’s INDEX immerses the viewer in a forest of thick, dark foliage, where an ornithologist is collecting research material. While reviewing his recordings, he notices an eerie, human-like presence and sets out to track down the lurking figure. With a patient, contemplative gaze, Muntean’s camera captures the mounting fear and paranoia as the man’s quest turns into a troubling game of hide-and-seek, where the hunter becomes the hunted. An atmospheric horror story with a tinge of humour, heightened by a masterfully crafted soundscape. (Öykü Sofuoğlu)
