The Viennale 2015 will be opened with the new film of American director Todd Haynes CAROL. It had its premiere in Cannes and tells the love story between Carol (Cate Blanchett), a high society woman, and the young department store clerk Therese (Rooney Mara). Based on a story by Patricia Highsmith, CAROL is a subtle melodramatic study on gender relations and class relations in America in the early fifties.
As part of the closing gala on November 5, the film ANOMALISA by Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson is shown. A work that has been realized in the unusual format of a stop-motion animation. It is one of the most original, the most surprising films of the last cinema year.
